1. Introduction

At Adore, we take your privacy seriously. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our platform.


2. Information We Collect

Account Information

When you create an account, we may collect:

  • Email address - when you register with email or sign in with Google/Apple
  • Name - provided during registration or from your Google/Apple profile
  • Profile picture - from your Google profile (if you sign in with Google)
  • Password - securely hashed, only for email/password accounts

Authentication Identifiers

  • Device identifier - unique ID generated by your device
  • Google ID - if you sign in with Google
  • Apple ID - if you sign in with Apple

Profile & Preferences

  • Date of birth (month and year) - for age verification and personalization
  • Vibes and goals - content preferences you select during onboarding
  • Daily time commitment - how much time you want to spend on wellness

Wellness Preferences (Optional)

During onboarding, you may choose to share:

  • Sleep quality (Poor, Fair, Good)
  • Stress level (Low, Medium, High)
  • Skin type (Oily, Dry, Combination, Sensitive)

This information helps us personalize your content. It is completely optional.

Usage Data

  • Content interactions - articles you view, bookmark, and like
  • Feed impressions - which articles appear in your feed
  • Timestamps - when you use the app
  • Platform - iOS, Android, or Web

Push Notification Data

If you enable push notifications:

  • Push token - a unique identifier for your device used to deliver notifications
  • Notification preferences - your choices about which notifications to receive (daily digest, weekly digest, announcements)

We do not read the content of any other notifications on your device.


3. How We Use Your Information

Your Control

  • You can enable or disable each notification type in app settings

  • Disabling notifications does not affect your account or content access

5. Sharing Your Information

We do not sell your personal information. We may share your information only:

  • With your consent
  • To comply with legal requirements
  • With service providers who help us operate (see below)
  • To protect our rights and safety

All service providers are bound by data protection agreements.


6. Data Security

We implement appropriate technical measures to protect your personal information:

  • Encryption in transit - All data transmitted over HTTPS
  • Password hashing - Passwords are never stored in plain text
  • Token security - Refresh tokens are hashed before storage
  • Access controls - Role-based access to admin functions

However, no method of transmission over the Internet is 100% secure.

When you delete your account, your data is deleted immediately.


8. Your Rights

All Users

You have the right to:

  • Access your data through the app
  • Export all your data in a portable format
  • Delete all your data at any time through app settings
  • Update your profile information
  • Withdraw consent by deleting optional profile information
  • Disable push notifications at any time

Data Export

You can export all your data including:

  • Profile information
  • Preferences and settings
  • Bookmarks and likes
  • Device information
  • Consent records

Account Deletion

When you delete your account, we permanently remove:

  • Your profile and preferences
  • Your bookmarks and likes
  • Your devices and push tokens
  • Your notification preferences
  • Your onboarding data

Articles you authored remain published but are anonymized (author removed).

For European Users (GDPR)

If you are in the European Economic Area, you also have the right to:

  • Request a copy of your data (data portability)
  • Request correction of inaccurate data
  • Object to processing of your data
  • Lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority

For California Users (CCPA)

If you are a California resident:

  • You have the right to know what data we collect
  • You have the right to delete your data
  • You have the right to opt-out of data sales (we do not sell data)
  • We will not discriminate against you for exercising these rights

9. Where Your Data Is Stored

Your data is stored on servers located in the United States, provided by our hosting partner Railway. Images are stored via Cloudinary. Push notifications are delivered through Firebase (Google).

If you are accessing Adore from outside the United States, your data will be transferred to and processed in the United States.


10. Children's Privacy

Adore is not intended for children under 13.

We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are a parent and believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.


11. Cookies and Tracking

Mobile App

The Adore mobile app does not use cookies. We use your device identifier to maintain your session.

Web App

The Adore web app may use:

  • Session storage - to maintain your login session
  • Local storage - to store your preferences locally
  • Service workers - for push notifications (if enabled)

We do not use third-party tracking cookies.


12. Third-Party Sign-In

When you sign in with Google or Apple:

We only request the minimum data needed to create your account. You can review and revoke access in your Google or Apple account settings.


13. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do:

  • We will update the "Last updated" date
  • We will notify you with an in-app message when you open the app
  • Significant changes may require your renewed consent
